Introducing the dalton community
Dalton, NSW, is the Southern Tablelands’ best-kept secret—a charming little village with big personality! Known for its rolling farmlands, historic quirks and a community so tight-knit you’d think they were stitched together, Dalton is the perfect mix of rural charm and local pride.
This isn’t just any sleepy country town—it sits near the famous Cullerin Fault, making it one of the few places in Australia where the earth likes to shake things up (don’t worry, just a little jiggle now and then). It’s geology with a side of intrigue!
Dalton locals are pros at turning small-town living into something special. Whether it’s lending a hand to neighbours or teaming up for events like Quick Shear Inc’s Shearers Showdown, it’s an example of this communities pride putting their heart and soul into events like this.
If you’re looking for a spot with history, community spirit and a pinch of quirk, Dalton will charm your socks off—no tremor required!
Dalton Public school
Dalton Public School has been a vital part of the community since 1860 and the funds raised through the Shearers Showdown will help enhance school visibility with new signage, as it is not located on the main road. This will aid in promoting the school and maintaining enrolments.
The P&C also funds uniforms, excursions, camps and meal programs, enriching the student experience. Fundraising allows the P&C to provide crucial support to sustain these initiatives and ensure the school continues to thrive.
Dalton community & district association
The Dalton Community and District Association Inc’s primary mission is to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life for residents within the community. This includes maintaining and improving local infrastructure, promoting community engagement and facilitating meaningful discussions to address local needs.
Proceeds from being involved in the Shearers Showdown, will be directed toward the Chapel Street Playground project, which includes new equipment and sensory garden landscaping. The park, centrally located adjacent to the Pub, has been underutilised since all unsafe equipment was removed four years ago. With no plans from the council to replace the equipment, the Association has taken the initiative to secure funding and restore this important community space for residents to enjoy themselves.
Dalton rural fire brigade
The Dalton Rural Fire Brigade is a committed group of volunteers who provide emergency response services around the clock, 365 days a year.
This dedicated team handles a variety of incidents, including bush and grass fires, house and structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, and community education programs. While their primary focus is on their local district, they often assist other Rural Fire Brigades and travel long distances to offer support where needed.
Currently, the brigade is raising funds to purchase a refrigerated cooler for their Category 1 fire truck. This cooler will ensure that water and meals remain cool, offering much-needed relief to volunteers working in extreme heat or during prolonged emergencies.
